The Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Review

We’ve now stayed at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point near Fort Myers TWICE, and I am already trying to figure out how to go back for a third time.
This resort is perfect for families, with waterslides, kids’ activities, and even a ferry to a private beach. It has easily become one of my favorite spots for an easy getaway with the kids.
How Did We Book It?
We booked our stay at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point for just 29,000 credit card points per night, but typical cash rates fluctuate between $350-$800 per night.
If you’re deciding whether to book this resort, it’s worth checking current cash rates since pricing can vary significantly depending on season.

What is the Resort Like?
This resort is absolutely perfect for families. With multiple waterslides and a huge pool area, it honestly felt more like a mini water park than a hotel pool setup.
There was something for everyone: a baby slide, a relaxing lazy river, a slide for kids over 42 inches, and a couple of bigger slides for those over 48 inches. One of them was a tube slide (you can ride solo or double), and the other was a fast tunnel-style slide designed for racing.

A truly unique feature of Hyatt Regency Coconut Point is its access to a private island with beach chairs, umbrellas, a BEAUTIFUL beach (this area also has beautiful picnic tables on an elevated deck to catch some amazing views).
Here is where this resort gets even better, because it has even more…
- Open Spaces: My son found other children and they played pick-up soccer every evening. It was actually his favorite part.
- Lawn Games: Cornhole, giant Jenga, and oversized Connect Four and other games throughout the property
- Rock Climbing Wall: My kids did this every day we were here – it was open from 10-2 every day
- Fire Pits: In the evenings, they light the fire pits to roast s’mores but the s’mores materials were not included as they have been at other Hyatt properties, but you can buy them inside the hotel
In full disclosure, I was sad the resort was not right on the beach, but when we rode the ferry, dolphins showed up and rode in the wake. It was our favorite part of the trip, and the dolphins were so close, we felt like we could touch them.
So I quickly changed my perspective, as the ferry is an experience I wouldn’t want to miss (not to mention it is included with your stay).
Pro tip: If you are going at a busy time, like spring break or Easter, call the resort a few days ahead of time and reserve your spot on the ferry.

Why You Should Rent a Car
If you’re staying at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point, I definitely recommend renting a car. While the resort’s restaurants are convenient, the food can get expensive pretty quickly.
There are plenty of great—and more affordable—dining options just a short drive away. For example, one evening we enjoyed a casual meal (aka Chick-fil-A) near the pool area, which was a perfect quick and budget-friendly choice.
If you have the AMEX Platinum card, this is a great opportunity to use some RESY credits, as there are several restaurants nearby.
Just a heads-up: parking at the resort is $25 per night unless you’re a Hyatt Globalist member, who gets parking for free. Having a car not only gives you freedom to explore local spots but can also help you save on meals and make your trip more comfortable overall.
What airport is the best? Can I fly for free?
I recommend flying into Fort Myers (RSW) because it is only 15 miles to the resort. You could fly into Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, or Sarasota, but they are all over 100 miles away.
If you would like to fly your family for free on credit card points, I usually recommend beginners use Southwest. You can earn Southwest points by signing up for a Southwest Credit Card, which can be found on my favorite offers page), and you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards to Southwest.
Overall, this was one of our family’s favorite Easter vacations, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return. If you’re considering a festive, family-friendly getaway during Easter, Hyatt Regency Coconut Point is definitely worth it!
Would we stay here again?
ABSOLUTELY – and for so many reasons. The pools, activities, and beach are some of the best, and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

If you’re planning a stay here, it’s worth checking current availability and pricing for your dates since this resort can vary a lot depending on season and demand.

And if you want to stay here on credit card points, I’d recommend signing up for the Chase Sapphire Preferred (or another Chase credit card that earns ultimate rewards), hit the sign-up bonus, and transfer the points to Hyatt. The get ready to enjoy an amazing stay at a top-notch resort for families.
